LINE COOKS
*Kitchen experience is preferred but not required -- we are willing to teach from the bottom up and hire on positive attitude and willingness to learn.

*Must have some weekday daytime availability as well as weekend availability

Key Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 60lb and stand for long periods of time

  • Ability to navigate a high-stress, high-intensity environment and remain calm under pressure

  • Positive, upbeat attitude and willingness to learn

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing food for service -- (e.g. chopping vegetables, assembling ingredients and preparing batters and sauces according to restaurant recipes, cooking meat, etc.)

  • Setting up, stocking, and cleaning stations with necessary supplies

  • Cooking food items specific to individual station (e.g. pancakes, savory items, eggs)

  • Maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment

Professional Development Opportunities:

  • Experience working in restaurant industry and acquiring skills specific to the kitchen (understanding cooking methods, knife skills classes, new ingredients, etc.)

  • Contributing to peer development, acquiring communication skills to manage fellow team-members and work as a cohesive group.

  • Opportunities for creative input (suggesting new ideas/recipes for our blind special.)

Benefits:

  • Starting hourly wage is $16/hour + cash & credit card tips. Beginning after the first two weeks of training, cash tips are given weekly, while credit card tips are added directly to paychecks. Paychecks are administered every two weeks on Thursdays. 

  • We offer individual performance-based raises on a rolling basis. 

  • After 90 days of employment, employees that work 30+ hours per week are eligible to enroll in SSE’s health insurance. With SSE’s health insurance, employee pays 25% of cost and SSE pays 75% of cost (cost TBD/per person) of insurance.

  • During the first six weeks of employment, employees receive 25% off one entree per shift. After six weeks, employees are allowed one free entree per shift.

  • Supportive management team with strong focus on open communication, individual attention during training, and opportunities for feedback and dialogue.

 

Short Stack is now open the following hours:

Thursday-Sunday  7am-10pm

*Because of our hours, schedule flexibility/willingness to work a variety of shifts is preferred. We are currently hiring for all shifts from Wednesdays through Sunday. On Wednesdays, the restaurant itself is closed however there are morning and afternoon shifts available for prep & set-up.
