Local women of color will take the stage with our keynote speaker, Dr. Xochitl Yadira Gonzalez, and talk about what it takes to thrive despite being underpaid or undervalued in this society. You will be inspired. You might cry, but you will definitely feel the hope for change.

“We are dedicated to addressing the racial wealth gap, and this empowering gathering will provide a platform for women to share their authentic narratives of economic survival, fostering understanding and solidarity within the community. We answer the call of economic development with our annual storytelling event, Yo Quiero Dinero! We want Money! Our Stories Have Value!” Says Araceli Esparza, Founder of Midwest Mujeres Inc.,

Join Midwest Mujeres on Saturday, June 15, at the MyArts Theater for their annual "Yo Quiero Dinero" event, spotlighting the stories of women undervalued and marginalized by mainstream society.

¡Yo Quiero Dinero! This year, it focuses on women of color who are undervalued and marginalized by mainstream society but thriving despite this. This event will be held at the beautifully constructed MyArts Theater. Midwest Mujeres is dedicated to helping all individuals who identify as women tell their stories of economic survival—the real stories of the racial wealth gap.

We are directing our focus on first-generation, resilient Mujeres, who will tell us the stories that have helped propel them forward.

We are happy to announce our keynote speaker:  Xochitl Yadira Gonzalez, PhD from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Co-Founder of CLIGET, LLC: https://cliget.net/ | CLIGET title: Chief Culture & Strategy Officer

Professional title: Senior Director of Operations, Planning & Strategy at Northwestern Mutual Linked In profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/xochitl-yadira-gonzalez/

Dr. Gonzalez’s educational achievements include a Business Management & Entrepreneurship Technical degree from Milwaukee Area Technical College and a Bachelor of Science in Leadership & Organization from Marquette University, where she was recognized for her leadership qualities and dedication to community engagement. Fueling her aspirations further, she pursued and successfully completed a Master of Science specializing in Organizational Leadership & Administration from Concordia University Wisconsin. Recently, Xochitl earned a Doctorate (PhD) in Global Leadership & Change at Tiffin University, Ohio, showcasing her unwavering commitment to lifelong learning.

Dr. Gonzalez embodies values that align with her consulting firm's ethos—excellence, integrity, and innovation. Working hand-in-hand with clients, she tailors solutions to meet their needs while fostering collaboration and trust.

As a servant leader, she empowers individuals and organizations to thrive in an ever-changing world. Together, let's drive positive change, build inclusive communities, and create a brighter future for everyone.

If you are in Madison, enjoy storytelling and search for a Saturday “fun” afternoon event to support this innovative community of women. Be sure to add Yo Quiero Dinero Annual Event: Our Stories to your calendar for June 15th, 2024, at 1 PM.

This year’s cohort of women has a long history in our community. They come from all across Dane County: Gabriela Tellez, Vanessa Cook, Karin Sucasaire, Monica Mims, Shirmiel Duncan, Paquita Purnell, Andrea White, and Michelle Mckoy. Cheer them on their journey!
