This Sacred Citizenship event will open with a special Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) evening prayer at 4:30 pm in the assembly room. Attendees will be asked to bring a remembrance of a loved one who is no longer living to create an altar. In Mexico Dia de los Muertos is a national holiday that is celebrated from October 31-November 2. This is not a sad holiday, but rather a celebration to demonstrate love and respect for deceased family members. After this special prayer service, we will join together for dinner and a panel discussion highlighting Hispanic immigration stories. Panelists include, Luis and Lupita Montoto of La Movida radio station and Sister Paz Vital and a youth from Centro Hispano. Romilia Schlueter, former Holy Wisdom Monastery staff member who is now the Bilingual Quality Improvement Specialist at Supporting Families Together Association, will moderate the evening. $35, includes program and dinner Register by October 22, 2019.
